Our crack documentation team has been busy distilling SXIP 2.0 knowledge into delicious bite-size nuggets. If you have a burning desire to better understand what SXIP is, how it works, and how it can make your life fabulous, please take a look.
The document bundle includes:
Specs: SXIP 2.0 Protocol Specification
Supporting documents: SXIP 2.0 Overview, SXIP Protocol Scenarios, SXIP 2.0 Glossary
If you are interested in integrating SXIP into your website, a good place to start is the SXIP 2.0 Membersite Developers Guide.
There was a successful BOF at the IETF on the Digital Identity Exchange (DIX) protocol on Tuesday. DIX, as you may know, is the core of the SXIP 2.0 protocol. If you are interested in learning more about DIX/SXIP, and the problems they are attempting to solve, you may find these links useful:
Jabber logs of the March 21 IETF BOF - a lot of reading, but could be useful to capture some of the zeitgeist of Identity 2.0.
The DIX working group charter - Proposes the problem of online identity and goals of the DIX protocol.
The SXIP 2.0 Perl Membersite Development Kit (aka Perl MDK) is now available on CPAN; the module is called Net::SXIP::Membersite.
Also, the dependencies required by the Perl Homesite are now available as a bundle: Bundle::Net::SXIP::Homesite
You can install these using the standard CPAN tools: CPAN.pm or CPANPLUS.pm
Learn how to implement your website as a sxip Homesite by downloading the new Perl Homesite Package.
As a sxip Homesite, you can offer the following services to your customers:
- convenient log in to different websites with one username and password,
- simple and user-friendly identity storage,
- choice in the release of their identity data.
